In a touching display of resilience and solidarity, employees of Queensland Childcare Services (QCCS), who run Woodcrest Early Education Centre in Springfield, recently banded together to support their colleague, Kym Rachow, who tragically lost her mother Gail to breast cancer in January.
A total of 19 employees from various QCCS centres, alongside Kym’s family and friends, united to walk a combined 200 kilometres at the annual International Women’s Day Run in honour of Kym’s late mother.
Their effort not only commemorated her memory but also highlighted the importance of supporting women and raising awareness of breast cancer.
Laura Faalili, the General Manager of Queensland Childcare Services, emphasised the significance of the International Women’s Day event.
“This International Women’s Day was an opportunity to celebrate women within the childcare industry,” she said.
“It was important for us as an organisation to come together and highlight the importance of supporting women while raising vital funds and awareness for breast cancer.”
Laura also expressed admiration for the dedication and resilience displayed by the QCCS community.
“Seeing our employees, alongside Kym’s family and friends, come together to walk a combined 200 kilometres in honour of Kym’s mother was a really special moment for not only myself, but everyone involved,” she said.
