Springfield Pastor Philip Cutcliffe has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his exceptional contributions to the community, particularly through his dedicated service within the church.
Pastor Phil, as he is fondly known, has been an integral figure in the Springfield community for many years.
Since 1996, he has been the Founder, Pastor, and Church Elder of the Springfield Christian Family Church, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for worship and spiritual growth.
In 1997, Phil established the Westside Community Care organisation and has orchestrated numerous fundraising events, including the Greater Springfield Run for Life and Battle of the Bands Family Funday.
Reflecting on his remarkable achievements, Pastor Phil expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and recognition he has received from the community.
“It’s a nice feeling to be recognised by your community,” he said.
“Everywhere I go, there is always someone coming up to me to shake my hand and congratulate me.”
A Testament to Integrity and Commitment
Phil’s wife, Julianne Cutcliffe, lauded his integrity and unwavering commitment both at home and in the community.
“Phil is a husband and father who never says, ‘I’m too tired’ or ‘I can’t’,” she said.
“He always does everything he can to help the family with whatever need they have shared.”
June Johnson, a volunteer and organizer at the Westside Community Care, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing Pastor Phil’s selflessness and tireless dedication to the community.
“Phil listens and acts and makes a difference in so many lives,” she said.
“Working with Phil, I know first-hand how patient, persevering, productive and interruptible this fruit-bearing multitasker pastor is.”
As Pastor Phil continues to embody the values of compassion, service, and community, his recognition with the Order of Australia Medal serves as a testament to his enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to uplifting those around him.
