Men’s health the big winner at casino gala fundraiser

Daniel Bouwmeester    December 24, 2023    3 min read

On Saturday, November 25, the Springfield Mo-Men hosted our big casino-themed annual gala fundraiser evening: Movember Gala Casino Night 2023.

The evening of fundraising kicked off at 6pm at Springlake Hotel – with tickets costing $150 per person.

Many dignitaries representing the local area and community were in attendance.

After an incredibly successful 2022 where we raised over $100,000, this year thanks to events like Casino Night we proudly raised just over $70,000 for Movember.

Jordan MP Charis Mullen congratulated us on “another fantastic Gala Event,” raising important funds for Movember.

“Support for men’s health was definitely the big winner tonight,” Ms Mullen said.

“It was great to see so many from our community enjoying the impressively themed ‘Casino Night’ – and the cocktails!”

Each ticket included a three-hour drink package of beer, wine, and soft drinks, plus canapés, as well as a $100 voucher of fun money per person.

Oxley MP Milton Dick said: “Well done on organising an excellent event. The ‘Casino Night’ theme was a huge hit.”

Springfield Mo-Men is the local Movember chapter. We began around 10 years ago when Mark Winter and Paul Kirwan signed up for Movember 2012.

At first, the Mo-Men held fundraisers annually in November by growing moustaches, but with help from third member Matt Eggins, community engagement and support quickly grew to what it is today.

We officially launched the Movember 2023 campaign, with the slogan: “The Mo is Calling”, on October 11.

The goal is to start the conversation – encourage the men in your lives to talk, and most of all get vital health checks – and donating to Movember helps us ignite that conversation.

Every dollar raised goes to support research into testicular and prostate cancer and to assist with programs to help with mental health and wellbeing, and suicide prevention.

For 20 years, the Movember organisation has changed the face of men’s health and we are so proud to be part of the family.

Regular Mo-Men Activities
