The 151st Annual Ipswich Show, which occurred from Friday, May 17, to Sunday, May 19, 2024, drew large crowds with its diverse attractions and community-centred events.
The theme, “Celebrating our community,” showcased a colourful array of community groups, schools, and businesses, celebrating the vibrant spirit of Ipswich.
The Grand Parade kicked off the show on Friday at 11:30 am in the Main Arena.
A perennial favourite, Sideshow Alley, provided endless entertainment with rides and games for all ages.
The Trade and Showbag Pavilion was a bustling hub, with visitors exploring a variety of showbags and exhibitors featuring home, lifestyle, government, and gift items.
This area was one of the busiest spots, capturing the essence of the Ipswich Show.
Adding to the excitement, chainsaw racing made a roaring return, featuring competitors vying for prizes in speed, 3-man team, and post-rip classes.
The Jack and Jill competition, a crowd favourite, also made an appearance, thrilling spectators with its fast-paced action.
In the Historical Precinct, local sheep shearer Shane Cartwright demonstrated his skills daily, celebrating one of Australia’s iconic agricultural activities.
The precinct also featured a stunning display of restored vintage machinery, including model steam engines and other rare machines, with visitors getting the chance to see these historical artefacts up close and chat with their operators.
The Woodchopping Competition, held in the Woodchop Arena was another highlight.
This event attracted some of Australia’s toughest axemen and women, showcasing their strength, timing, and agility in this internationally recognised sport.
The Ipswich show finished with the much-loved fireworks display, which closed the show for another year.
