Springfield now has its own radio station

As Greater Springfield prepared to celebrate its 30th anniversary, the region received its first birthday present: its own radio station, Radio Springfield City

Springfield enthusiast Maria Becis, director of Radio Springfield City, said it will be “your voice, online” in the local community.

“We are on air to let the local community know just what is happening in the area, provide them with an excellent news service, interviews with local newsmakers and of course a great mix of music.

“To listen to Radio Springfield City, simply download the Radio Springfield City app, making it easy to listen in your home, car, and smart devices,” Maria added.

Well-known radio personality Peter Carey looks after the ‘on-air’ side of things.

“This has been a very exciting project to be involved with… actually building a radio station from the ground up,” Peter said.

Tom Murphy and Tash Hansen host the breakfast show.

“We have been overwhelmed by how the business community has given us the tick of approval and the many favourable comments from those who have been listening to our programs – especially about our music, our local interviews, and community news.”

Radio Springfield City is a 24/7, online streaming commercial radio station, allowing businesses to advertise their goods and services and providing a platform for the local community to use their voice online.

The station is building their ‘on-air’ team: the current line-up has Peter Carey hosting breakfast Monday to Friday, as well as the Saturday Re-Run, Maria Becis is on weekday afternoons from 12pm to 3pm, Tash and Tommy present the Sunday Breakfast Show (with a little help from Ruby), and Shaz and Bomber cover All Things Sport.

Radio Springfield City is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, by telling your Google smart device to “talk to Radio Springfield City”, or alternatively by scanning the QR code.
