The annual ‘Welcoming the Babies’ community event was held at Brighton Homes Arena late last month.

Families were invited to register their baby (up to 18 months) for the welcome ceremony on Sunday, October 22, where they received a special named certificate, gift bag, and commemorative photo.

Plenty of parenting tools and tips made the rounds thanks to a suite of business and community representatives available at pop-up stands on the day.

Co-hosts Jordan MP Charis Mullen and Oxley MP Milton Dick greeted young families at the free two-hour event.

According to Ms Mullen, the “cutest citizenship ceremony” was an opportunity to connect with new parents in the Greater Springfield region and surrounds.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we certainly have this in Greater Springfield and surrounds,” Ms Mullen said.

“We recognise that this is a community with many young families and we wanted a way to reach out to them and offer support and connections through local services.”

Conceived in 2018, ‘Welcoming the Babies’ had a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 but came back strong in 2022, and was bigger than ever this year.

“Milton Dick and I would like to sincerely thank all of the incredible organisations and local businesses who joined us this morning for this special event.”
