Ipswich school children are invited to showcase their artistic talents in Mayor Teresa Harding’s 2024 Christmas Card Competition.

This year, young artists have the chance to capture what celebrating Christmas in Ipswich means to them, with winning designs set to feature on the Mayor’s official Christmas cards sent to businesses, community groups, and leaders across the region and beyond.

“I’m on the hunt once again for some creative little elves to design my Christmas card for this year,” Mayor Harding said.

“Last year, we received around 500 fantastic entries, each one showing a unique view of Christmas in Ipswich. It’s inspiring to see how our young community members express their festive spirit.”

The competition, open to primary school students, is divided into two categories: Prep to Year 2, and Year 3 to Year 6.

Winning entries will receive a $200 Visa Prepaid Gift Card, while runners-up will be awarded a $100 Visa Prepaid Gift Card.

“The winning designs will take pride of place on my Christmas cards this year,” said Mayor Harding.

“Half of the cards will feature the Prep to Year 2 winner’s artwork, while the other half will showcase the winning entry from Year 3 to Year 6. It’s a wonderful way to share the creativity of Ipswich’s young artists with our broader community.”

Entries are now open and will close at 4 pm on Friday, November 29.

For an entry form, parents or schools can email mayor@ipswich.qld.gov.au, download it from Mayor Harding’s Facebook page, or collect it from the Ipswich administration building.

Submissions can be returned via email, mailed to PO Box 191, Ipswich, or hand-delivered to 1 Nicholas Street.
