Greater Springfield Community Festival celebrates culture

The Greater Springfield Community Festival 2024, which was hosted by the Varnam Cultural Society of Queensland, took place on May 11 at the Robelle Domain in Springfield Central.

The festival was a celebration of culture, diversity, and community spirit, drawing an estimated 15,000 attendees.

The festival featured nearly 700 performers, 60 stalls, and close to 100 performances, making it an unforgettable event for the Springfield community.

Some of the performers included The Spring Mountain State School Senior Choir, Junior Choir, and Senior Dance Group, dance troupe Therikkum Nadana Kootam, Samba Life Productions, Thai Strings Performance and Stomp and Scuff Line Dancing.

Varnam Cultural Society Founder and President Rajarajan Thennavan expressed his gratitude to the community.

“Thank you for making the Greater Springfield Community Festival 2024 a grand success,” he said.

“Your enthusiasm and support made this event unforgettable.”

The festival showcased a diverse array of cultural performances, interactive stalls, and family-friendly activities.

“The festival’s success was driven by a dedicated events committee and without them none of this could have gone ahead,” Rajarajan said.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of entertainment options, from live music and dance performances to children’s amusements and culinary delights.

Rajarajan Thennavan was excited for future festivals in Springfield.

“The festival was such a vibrant celebration of culture, diversity, and community spirit,” he said.

“Let’s continue to celebrate together in the future.”
