Community groups in Greater Springfield and beyond can now apply for grants of up to $100,000 to support multicultural events and programs under the Australian Government’s Multicultural Grassroots Initiative.
The grant program, part of a broader $9.77 million investment, aims to foster social inclusion and intercultural connections through festivals, celebrations, and community programs.
Local events such as the recent Dandiya Night at Robelle Domain and the Diwali celebrations exemplify the vibrant cultural fabric of Greater Springfield.
These gatherings not only celebrate cultural traditions but also bring together diverse communities, strengthening social bonds.
Member for Blair Shayne Neumann, emphasised the importance of these initiatives in promoting unity.
“Australia is one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world, but building an inclusive society requires deliberate policy and sustained investment,” he said.
“These grants will support multicultural celebrations, social programs, and community amenities, encouraging social participation and connection.”
The grants will be available for projects such as cultural festivals, small-scale community amenities upgrades, and intercultural programs.
The initiative is part of the Albanese Government’s broader commitment to inclusivity, contributing to the $85 million Modernised Multicultural Grants package.
Applications for the Multicultural Grassroots Initiative close on November 4, 2024.
