A new dog off-leash area has opened at Mountain Park, located at the corner of Grande Avenue and Sierra Drive in Spring Mountain, offering residents a safe space for their pets to exercise and socialise.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the park was designed to meet the growing demand for pet-friendly recreational spaces in the area.
“We do everything we can to keep our furry friends happy, healthy, and active,” Mayor Harding said.
“This new off-leash area gives residents a local option to enjoy time with their dogs as we head into summer.”
The park features nature play areas, tunnels for dogs to explore, and shaded seating for owners.
It spans approximately 1,032 square meters and will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
The facility is accessible through nearby pathways, with parking available off Grande Avenue.
Mayor Harding emphasised the importance of off-leash areas for fostering community engagement and promoting active lifestyles for both pets and owners.
“This park is one of 23 dog parks across Ipswich, with more in the planning stages,” she said.
“Our investment in these spaces helps families enjoy time with their pets closer to home while encouraging a healthier, pet-friendly community.”
