The annual Diwali Festival of Lights in Springfield is gearing up for another year of growth, with organisers offering complimentary transport to accommodate the increasing number of attendees.

The festival will take place on Saturday, October 19, at Brookwater Golf and Country Club, where last year’s event drew more than 3,000 people.

To ensure smooth travel for festival-goers, coaches will operate from two key locations: Springfield Central Station, for those arriving by train, and Brighton Homes Arena, for those driving.

The transport service will be available from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the day of the event.

General Manager of Brookwater Residential Narendran Sinnathamby, expressed excitement about the growing popularity of the festival and the importance of making it accessible.

“The popularity of this festival across Australia and in our region is mind-blowing, and we’re keen to ensure everyone continues to enjoy the joy, light, and community spirit that this holiday brings,” he said.

The festival will feature a variety of attractions, including Bollywood dance performances, a DJ set, a laser light show, and family-friendly activities such as kids’ craft, face painting, balloon twisting, and henna art.

One of the highlights of this year’s event is the major prize draw for ticket holders, offering return flights for four to India with Singapore Airlines.

“Like the Greek community’s Paniyiri, the Diwali Festival of Lights is a must-see event that showcases our vibrant multicultural community,” Narendran said.

The Diwali Festival, often regarded as India’s most important holiday, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness.

While rooted in Hindu tradition, the celebration resonates across diverse communities in Australia, highlighting themes of hope, unity, and inner strength.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite, and children under 12 can attend for free.
