Construction of a new $3 million clubhouse at the Silver Jubilee Sports Facility in Spring Mountain is about to begin, with Ipswich City Council awarding the contract for the project.
The development will be funded by a $1.9 million grant from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program, supplemented by additional funding from the council.
Set for completion by mid-2025, the new clubhouse will serve as a significant addition to the facility, which opened in April 2023.
The state-of-the-art building will include a clubroom, kitchen, change rooms, referee rooms, medical room, storage facilities, and amenities.
The project will also feature a new shed, pathways, and expanded parking, catering to the growing needs of the community and local sports clubs.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann highlighted the importance of government and council collaboration in delivering critical infrastructure for rapidly expanding areas like Spring Mountain.
“The LRCI program is a great example of how local councillors, and the Federal Government can work together to achieve positive outcomes for communities,” he said.
“The new clubhouse is part of a broader strategy to support local jobs, boost liveability, and strengthen the fabric of communities like those in the Western Corridor.”
The facility will support various local sporting clubs, including Pioneers Basketball, Springfield Lakes Hawks Rugby Union, and Springfield Stingers Touch Football.
Councillor Paul Tully, Chair of the Finance and Governance Committee, emphasised the project’s benefits for residents and sportspeople in Ipswich’s eastern suburbs.
“This clubhouse is a fantastic addition to the Silver Jubilee facility, which already boasts sports fields, netball, and basketball courts at the heart of Greater Springfield,” Cr Tully said.
