Urban Utilities has partnered with the Brisbane Lions to launch two new water stations at Brighton Homes Arena, providing an eco-friendly and cost-effective option for fans to stay hydrated during games.
This initiative comes just in time for the Lions’ first home game of the season this weekend, where temperatures are forecasted to reach 34 degrees on Sunday.
The water stations, which are permanently installed and connected to Urban Utilities’ network, allow fans to fill up their reusable water bottles for free or drink directly from bubblers.
Spokesperson for Urban Utilities Michelle Cull, highlighted the importance of staying hydrated during the game, particularly with the expected high temperatures.
“We’re excited that the water stations are ready for the first home game of the season. With the weather expected to feel like a typical summer’s day, these stations are sure to be in high demand,” Michelle said.
“We’ll also be distributing special edition reusable water bottles, which should be easy to spot among the crowd in their red, blue, and gold.”
Brisbane Lions Head of Women’s Football Bree Brock, expressed her satisfaction with the partnership, emphasising that access to free water was one of the most requested improvements from fans last season.
“We’re pleased to partner with Urban Utilities to help keep our thousands of fans hydrated,” she said.
“Along with the new water stations, we’ve also installed misting zones to help keep everyone cool. We encourage fans to take precautions against the heat by slipping on a shirt, slopping on sunscreen, and slapping on a hat.”
The new facilities are part of Urban Utilities’ ongoing commitment to providing 24/7 access to clean drinking water for the community.
The initiative also offers fans a way to save money while staying hydrated at the arena, which is expected to host a large crowd for the Grand Final rematch.
