Ipswich and South-East Queensland are currently buzzing with more than 50 free and low-cost activities as the Peaks to Points Festival returns for another exciting edition.
The festival will offer a variety of events that start on July 20 and will run until August 4.
The festival, which takes place biennially, has received strong support from the local council.
Environment and Sustainability Committee Chairperson, Councillor Jim Madden, expressed the council’s pride in backing the festival, which highlights the efforts of waterway catchment and environmental community groups on the southern side of the Brisbane River.
“Peaks to Points Festival is an opportunity for these groups to showcase their work in improving the natural environment,” said Cr Madden.
“Council will offer unique experiences and hands-on activities as part of the program.”
Events across the Greater Springfield region include the bushcare blitz at Brookwater and spotlight walks at Springfield Lakes.
National Tree Day, celebrated during the festival, features two significant planting events at Tite Family Park in Bundamba and Cribb Park in North Ipswich.
“These planting events support the restoration of important Ipswich waterways and provide a great way to give back to our environment,” Cr Madden noted.
Additionally, a Tallegalla property involved in the council’s Land for Wildlife conservation program will host an open day, complete with a native plant sale.
“These events are just a glimpse of the many exciting celebrations and activities taking place in Ipswich, as well as across Brisbane, Logan, and Redlands,” Cr Madden added.
